Hear the Drum(Drom)of Africa to Eretz Yisrael
By Bev Jaffe
As the plane touches down at Ben Gurion, I give a sigh of relief.
This is it…this is my 14 year dream, Martin, Sivana, Rishon and myself have landed in Eretz Yisrael.

The place we are going to grow old in, see our children through school in, and eventually pass away in.
As new Olim, we are extremely lucky to have been chosen for the B’ayit Rishon B’Moledet program, under the auspices of Elena Kovarsky.
From the day of the Aliyah Expo in Cape Town, we knew that we wanted to have our first experience in Israel on a kibbutz. more >>>

I would absolutely recommend this program to potential olim who are looking for a quiet peaceful environment away from the distractions and noise of the city to focus on Hebrew studies, learn about the kibbutz living, meet new people originating from all over the world and to begin the absorption process in a supportive, encouraging environment.
My favorite part of the project has been the amazing people I have met, both those who run the Baiyt Rishon program and participants.
It has been wonderful to study and live near others taking the same steps I am.
The facilities are very comfortable, the kibbutz is gorgeous and every day I learn new things about kibbutz living, Israeli culture, Hebrew and human connection. It was the best decision I could have made for myself in post Aliyah planning, and I highly recommend it to others looking for such an experience.

Baiyt Rishon is a fantastic option for people who are too old for ulpan kibbutz or do not have a family. It is safe environment to begin the absorption process and financially viable option.

Bayit Rishon is the only option for single, mature olim, especially those who have never experienced life in a kibbutz before. You have the freedom to do whatever you want, the possibility of work, a very safe, rural environment, and a quiet place to concentrate on learning Hebrew and planning your next move in Israel. Pretty much everything is taken care of, and from the time you arrive, you can relax and start acclimatizing to Israeli culture and at the same time explore the amazing beauty of the Negev!
