Mr. Adnan Kandiyoti (KH)

Board Member

Mr. Adnan Kandiyoti was born in Istanbul, Turkey. After graduating from the “American College of Istanbul” he studied Chemistry in London. On graduating as chemical engineer , Adnan returned to Turkey to work in the family business and after his marriage moved to Brussels in Belgium where Adnan started a textile trading company which today is considered one of the important commodity trading companies in Europe.

Adnan's  Keren Hayesod involvement started in the 1980's when he decided to become involved in the Jewish life of his community, realizing that a strong link with Israel was the only way for Jewish communities the size of Belgium to survive.  In 1991 Adnan accepted the position of chairman of the Keren Hayesod Brussels campaign, and in 1994, he became President of Keren Hayesod Belgium, a position he held until 1999. He modernized KH's fundraising system, by making people proud to give to Israel, by applying a "donor recognition" system and turning KH into the main fundraiser for Jewish Zionist education within the community. During this period the Belgian campaign was consolidated and well established and donations increased considerably.

In 2004 Adnan Kandiyoti was presented with  “The Yakir- Keren Hayesod Award”.

He is a Board Member since February 2008.
